Here we have an interracial romance. A black woman white man. A story about Jillian and Daryl. Daryl is a white accountant. He is a wiz when it comes to numbers. He even owns his own accounting firm. And Jillian is a teacher. This book is about two lonely souls finding each other. They eventually do through the dating site they have joined. Sometimes this book has scenes with people that are irrelevant and not necessary. They are not the focus of the story. And yet the author just to have fillers, seems to put them in. They are better ways to have a story than having a bunch of sentences put together. Sorry for the bluntness but I have no other way of describing it.Product details

For a short book this started really slowly... like snails pace. His secretary was one come on from a restraining order, her friends were silly (how do you just gloss over domestic violence?!).Once we got to the online interaction between Jillian and Darryl it got better. They seemed genuine enough and their conversations felt authentic. That's when it all went wrong... in a "laugh at them not with them" way. The sassy white friend- how often do we see straight, sassy white people in these books?- comes on to Darryl online. But hang on, it's not really Darryl, it's his Mike Tyson/Bishop Don Juan wannabe, bff Roger. Jillian tries to write Darryl off, he and his bff show up in town (she lives in his home town in KY, he lives in Chicago) and smooth things over. They plan to go on a date and then... the end. In all caps even. If it's free, try it I guess.
I hate trying to read a novel that full of errors...that is the case with this story. Also the characters were totally unrealistic. I stuck it out and finished it, but was not pleased at all.
It would have been better had it been a little longer. The conclusion could have had a better delivery. I was confused a out the ending with the friends as well. It was truly an ok novella. I wouldn't spend more than $1 on it. For the price that it is at now, not worth it.
I found it a little immature on Jillian to be crying her eyes out over someone she talked to over the phone, instead of confronting the situation as it happened. Don't get me wrong you can be disappointed but balling like your life is over was too much. I did like that Darryl went to find her and brought Roger, which cleared up the situation.
Jillian and Darryl are two intelligent people who haven't had success in relationships. They meet online and eventually start talking on the phone. Darryl signed up at the encouragement of Roger a player. Viveka, a relationship coach decided to "test" Darryl's faithfulness. Of course it's Roger who responds and Jillian and Darryl who get hurt. It's a quick read. No sex. After mentally shaking Viveka (weird name) and kicking Roger, I gave Jillian and Darryl a good life.
I gave 3 stars for effort I did expect the story to be more developed. It was rather short and lacked depth. The character of Roger was developed much more than the primary character's. I'm from the Caribbean and I got the impression that the author has some roots from here as well; this was realised by the name of the following Guava County; Rio Claro High School and Laventille Heights.. Part of the names are actual places in my country. Anyways I would advise that proper editing and spell check is mandatory. A note to the author I anticipate more of your work don't give up and it will be awesome if you can provide your bio with your listings. Happy Reading!
For the most part I did enjoy the storyline. I did not like that the author continuously mentioned the fact that Darryl was interested in black women and there aren't black women in his hometown. Black women this, black women that. It got annoying especially since I am a black woman lol and you would think people would understand that the main characters are of different races (you can also see that by the pictures on the cover). It's fine to mention this once at the beginning of the story but it was unnecessary throughout the WHOLE freakin book. I also didn't care for the ending. If Juillian was smart she would've known that her "friend" was not really trying to look out for her. The whole unexpected meetup and everything else that happened at the end was just no good.
